A Social System — Exploring Site-Specificity in NYC
This project focuses on New York as context. It aims to transform social behavior and build a community around cultural interests. Bringing people together through a variety of socialization components, this system creates a sustainable urban destination and a dialogue between the face-to-face and virtual realms. Combining physical spaces with a digital platform, the goal is to enable “social friction” via both anonymity and intimacy.
"Today, megacities tie together tens of millions of people who have come together to work and play. New technologies are vital to helping people navigate the vast sea of opportunities for social interaction." - Smart Cities
Each pop-up location has a site-specific visual and brand identity, inspired by its geographic language, thus creating a sense of recognition, and reflecting the uniqueness each physical experience.
